I am headed down to Honduras for a Medical Mission Trip this week. I love, love, love serving God in this way and no doubt my heart will be blessed more than the people we are going to help. I am reading through Pslams right now and I keep thinking about…How Majestic is Your Name in all the earth….
I get to test that trust out when going in the Name of Jesus to another country and seeing believers worshiping, and serving. I can’t wait! I’ll miss these guys while I’m gone!!!
What an amazing time to worship Jesus on Good Friday last week.
This experience is one of my favorite during the year because we focus solely on the cross. The sacrifice Jesus made for us, and that he chose to give himself. Noone forced him. Nations bow at the mention of his name…Jesus. Amazing love…and grace.
My little boy is growing up. Today when I dropped him off at school he turned just before going into the building and looked at me. He gave me a big wave and let me tell you that made my day. I remembered doing the same thing to my mom….that last look back that says I love you. I am thankful to be his dad. I am thankful that our family is together and that we are striving to live for Jesus. I didn’t grow up that way and I am glad that Ethan will have me to count on and to love him. I know this is a random post but Jesus gets the glory for my life so I thought I would share….
Rom 12: 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.13 Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”says the Lord.20 On the contrary:“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
These verses seem to fly in the face of what our culture tells us about revenge. What person in their right mind would think to feed an enemy? Our culture says if you see a weakness in someone…take advantage of that for your benefit. Or if someone is already down…why not go ahead and kick them while their down. You can do whatever it takes to get ahead in life….there is no room for compassion except for the weak or religious.
But the Bible says do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. The Bible says…On the contrary feed your enemy, do not repay evil for evil. That doesn’t fly in our culture but It makes good Jesus sense if you think about it… Jesus overcame all sin and death by his perfect sacrifice and resurrection. It don’t get more good than that guys! He didn”t conquer us and force our lives to be sinless and perfect. He loved us to the point of dying in our place. Unbelievable. That’s crazy. That’s amazing. That’s Jesus.
Be found trustworthy in the little things.
This is very convicting for me. I have 2 focuses that I feel God wants me to be trustworthy with…
1. my personal relationship with Him 2. Living a healthy lifestyle.
Why bother? Because it’s possible.
We can’t worry about what people say is too much or too big, we just need to follow Jesus. Furtick shared an amazing message. I won’t go into all the specifics but if you look at my facebook or twitter you will see the major points that hit me during the conference.
I am still praying about what God has placed in my heart after this week, but one thing is for sure….I feel very blessed. I don’t know why God loves me or why He blesses my family, or church, but I am so grateful for that.
I am very blessed to have Ethan as a son. He is very talented and smart. I recently had a conversation with a buddy of mine and he said…”don’t kids interrupt your life and kind of keep you from doing the things you would like to?”
My immediate response and thought was….kids don’t interrupt your life, they completely change it. I will hang with Ethan for a night playing Wii or playing soccer and I am completely happy. I don’t miss what I would be doing because he has changed my whole direction. He is a blessing. I am sure as Ella grows my life will change again with a little daughter.
Here is a picture of E at his pre-k deal.. Now that is one awesome kid! As I write this I am thinking about how believing in Jesus does the same thing. Jesus changes your life. I don’t miss doing the things I would have done, because Jesus has given a new direction…a new purpose. Following after Jesus brings about a new fuller life….wow this example really helps me understand the effect Jesus has on a life…… totally changes direction, totally changes desires, totally changes purpose…..Jesus is all.
- All I can say for this past weekend is….WOW. God did so much.
- 28 people was the final count for Baptisms on Sunday.
- We had close to 300 on Sunday Morning and over 300 for Baptism that night…..if you remember our attendance 1 year and 1/2 ago that would amaze you.
- Worship on Sunday Night was energetic, and adding in people’s families that were grateful about loved ones getting baptized…added so much to our songs.
- Loved it and the band rocked it. Our hearts were in it all day long.
- Philip shared about forgiveness again this morning and the response was huge.
- I am up in VA at refuel conference and I am praying for some inspiration and worship.
- So much going on….check out pictures on Discover Point Church’s facebook …..
- See you next Sunday!
